You must have missed one of those steps. Read it carefully and do it one-by-one. After you did everything and click PLAY at junkies or revloader it will have blackscreen for about 2-3 minutes in my case and after that it will show game menu. I'm using Intel Core i3-2330M + Nvidia GT520M + 2GB RAM on Windows 7 64bit. But since you said that the game returns to desktop after blackscreen, I 100% sure you have missed some of those step as I encountered that too because I forgot to run junkies as administrator. I just play with bot at the moment since I haven't found a way to play online(actually i haven't even search for solution lol).
