I think it would be much faster if the downloads commenced via peer-to-peer protocols. This would help with server costs and render the queue useless. I have no idea how to implement this, however, I have seen it done with big games such as World of Warcraft and Lord of the Rings Online with good results. I think that it could possibly be looked into for the junkies client.

Why don't you make your own NA server? I'm sure a lot of people would appriciate it.

To get the smoothest experience with any game, the settings must be set to the minimum details and or resolution specified in the game. This website claims to have some sort of FPS booster, perhaps this could be given a try?
