After many crashes and reinstalls and patches..i think i found the problem but can not fix it yet. In patch 39 as well as in patch 38 "steam client.dll" file appears to be a trojan downloader or a "malware packer" as described by Malwarebytes..this is just sad because that will imply that whoever is creating the patch wants to put 'something extra'...i have been patching it before and never had this problem untill now. Please FIX or "clean up" the "STEAMCLIENT.DLL" file so we can run the game.Thanks.

Error message: "set up file 'gameinfo.txt' doesnt exist in subdirectory 'hl2' check your game parameter or VCONFIG setting" This is when i go straight to start up the game on HL2.exe because counter strike.exe just keeps on crashing as well as hl2.exe By the way i've reinstalled the game many times and with NO patchs at all it seems to start up ok..but OF COURSE give me the "thegame ure trying to connect..newer version..bla,bla,bla" error.But WITHOUT PATCHS doesnt crash but can not connect!..with patch 38 or 39 doesnt matter..IT CRASHES and vista says HL2.exe crashed! This is really puzzling me now cause aint no stvpid but i cant figure it out this time! :-(

Then maybe its just my bad luck.I ALREADY uninstalled and installed the game.After the install i patched the game with patch # 1.0 and then patch # 2.0 after that i tried it only with those patches and i could see the servers but of course couldn't connect to them.Then i patched with patch # 38...guess what? it crashes again,couldn't even see the servers.Man,this is frustrating..never had so many problems with ANY other patch before. :P

I've downloaded and installed the 38 patch and now my game crashes every single time i want to start it up.I hope its because the patch is bad and the'yre making a new one because EVEN when i try to 'patch it back' to patch 37,32 etcetera..still crashes the game and no remedy now.I dont want to install again because of risk of losing MANY maps that i have!...any solution? :-(
