    It seems to have started working now and it's not hanging on the black screen anymore but is loading CSGO normally :)

    After downloading and installing 25.0.0.6 from the first post, it's since said there was another update at least twice and downloaded and installed it again but it's still on the same version. I haven't had any luck with Patch either and when I get to the front of the queue it errors out with Invalid Password, You Have Invalid Key or Server Not Available or somesuch. I've tried deleting csgo\bin\client.dll and going through the steps again as advised in the first post and have merged the two .reg files as well.

    I deleted the files in csgo/bin and ran Patch again. I still got that same error popup about 20 times and then it installed/repaired some files but I still just get black screen and then return to desktop :(

    I couldn't get the client to recognise that I already had the game files available, so I had to delete them and let it download it again. It downloaded OK but when it had finished, it threw up an error and all the buttons except Settings were grayed out. I closed it and restarted and clicked Install/Update and it verified the files and then did the same thing. I closed it and restarted and clicked Patch and then it kept throwing up more errors (all the same one as before), repeated each time I clicked OK until it closed. "JunkiesClient.exe - Entry Point Not Found : The procedure entry point ?EnterScope@CVProfile@@QAEXPBDH0_NHPAX@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library tier0_s.dll." I eventually got it to Patch I think and was able to create shortcut but when I run it, I just get a black screen for 20s and then it closes. I'd already merged the two registry files to disable steam but I've done that again and ran the client and clicked Patch again as advised. I don't know if it did anything as when I checked back it had closed and that error had popped up again. I still just get the black screen anyway.
