the game was working fine untill today when a message bumps up " hl2.exe has stopped working " like after 10 sec from running the game !

With patch 51?...yes of course! (sad LOL) the weird part its that it was working more or less fine and all of a sudden the crashes started again like in a horror movie..(sighs) before when this happened i was back and forth with 50 to 51 patch and somehow i managed to make it work again (patch 51 ) but now no more.

Patch 51 makes my CSS unplayable. I get hl2.exe has stopped working after running the game for few seconds. However, the game is playable without any patch. Any help with this?

Ive been switching between patch 50 and 51 with little results...one day the game works more or less ok and the other crashes...now,its no use to switch back and forth...patch 51 seems to be useless and this is been for a long time now :-(

It never work for me. Well I guess I'll be playing the game unpatched for a while. I'm fine with that as I'm playing LAN only.

Still crash on patch 52. The solution is to disable internet connection when starting up the game. You can reenable the internet connection when you are in the main menu. Found that solution somewhere in this forum, I forget which thread/poster posted that solution.

Disable the internet start the game and enable the internet.

thankyou admin i have just found your e-mail relating update 52 (the last one maybe).i use winxp so there no problem at all ,it sometime appear hl.exe has stopped working,i just re-paste the formerly downloaded steamclient.dll to cs folder,it worked.

Patch is working fine! Tested with Windows 7 SP1 32bit. Had Internet Connection on once and off once both worked! :)

Try disabling the internet connection before running the game, then enable it again.

I also got the not responding error... but after I updated CSS after applying the v51 patch its working fine.... Maybe someone can try this out, see if it fixes things! :)
