That could be many things but I thing in your case it is OS related or hardware problem like overheating.

 

After many crashes and reinstalls and patches..i think i found the problem but can not fix it yet. In patch 39 as well as in patch 38 "steam client.dll" file appears to be a trojan downloader or a "malware packer" as described by Malwarebytes..this is just sad because that will imply that whoever is creating the patch wants to put 'something extra'...i have been patching it before and never had this problem untill now.

 

Please FIX or "clean up" the "STEAMCLIENT.DLL" file so we can run the game.Thanks.

Arghh I don't know how many times we should go over and over this thing.

 

I'll say it short.

No it is not virus so your problem is 100% not in that.

 

50.000 people are using the patch I think they know what is OK and what is not OK.

 

This file is provided by REVOLUTiON team and they also guarantee you that it is not harm thing.

Well,its good to know that wich then makes me look for other thing to blame then...bad thing i just ran out of ideas.One interesting thing tough.....when i reinstall the game BEFORE ANY patches at all i can start it up good but of course CAN NOT connect to any servers cause of the "newer version..bla,bla..." error.Well,then i patch it...either with 38 or 39 patch after i patched it game doesn't even make it to see any servers,keeps crashing and VISTA SAYS "hl2.exe crashed...fault module: steamclient.dll"!!! already done and DISABLED a thousand things to see if can make it work..and its proven useless.

Ill have to be honest and say that at least ON MY LAPTOP the patch works and the only crash that i have is right AFTER i close the game...says "hl2.exe crashed" but this is AFTER I CLOSED the game so i guess it doesn't matter.

I dont want to play this game on my laptop i want to be able to keep playing it on my desktop as before...something is wrong i got NO problem with many other and WAY NEWER games. I got: phenom quad core/nvidia 460 gtx SC ectetera... :-(

I confirm that the game crashes after closing it. This is the same on STEAM.

The fact that the patch works on your lap-top shows that the problem is in your Operating system.

 

I would recommend you to format the PC and install Windows 7 SP1. I know it is too much work but why the hell you use Vista?

Vista is the most bad OS produced by Microsoft.

The only reason i was using vista is because of the DX 10 or 11 for the games that you can NOT get on XP.But since there's windows 7 now i guess no use on keeping up with Vista...i hate it too.

Im gonna have to install XP again and windos 7 and DUAL boot...fk vista i had it now with it! :-(

Everything is working great ;)

 

We only recently switched to CSSJunkies, other versions were causing issues. This one is working perfectly :) Any idea how I can get clantags working? It works fine on my Steam setup.

You enter your clantag in our launcher and then in the game you go to Options->Multiplayer->Advanced and from the drop down list choose the clantag.

    Do you know how I can prevent my server from being considered 'idle'? My servers are loaded as 2 windows services via FireDaemon so that they run even if the server PC isn't logged into a user account.

     

    Problem is that after this patch, the server FPS is capped at 250 and occasionally stutters. This has never been an issue before.

    The cap is not the problem, just that everyone stutters every few seconds. I tried installing the fps boost plugin, but still the same thing.

     

    I'll try reinstalling the server again, but not very optimistic about it as I installed it just a couple of days ago.

     

    Edit: Forgot to mention that when it stutters, server FPS is 10-50 then rises back to 250 again.
