Hi, I'm Hidden Blade. It's my first time checking out the net for CS:Source related stuff. And I came across this community. So uhm I wanna know two things:

Is this for all CS:Source updates (like server file updates and stuff)?

How will I be able to play CS:S online?

Well, honestly, I've been playing fps ever since I was 13. And I have NEVER EVER played CS:S online. Though I did played other fps MMO (though I know those sucks. I hate their game engine) and really, I wanna experience what's it like to play CS:S online. They say I'm not good enough if I haven't tried CS:S online. So yeah.

Uhm could you guys help me out.

Like tell me the "what-to-download" links.

I do have a CS:S at my pc, though it's modified and all and I don't think it's gonna be good for playing online servers. And oh, I'm downloading the most recent CS:S that I've seen on the updates. The 2012 version (the one that's from steam that's untouched and all..)

And how does this orange box work? how does it differ from my CS? I don't have that orange box thing. Sorry Im really noob at things like this.

And one more thing. Am I gonna have a hard time connecting to servers if I were from Philippines?

Thanks. Hope you guys reply. Ima be active on this forum from now on :)

Hello and welcome to the forums.

In our CSS release there is included server and client, so you can use it to play on servers or to host a server. Server for CSS is called SRCDS.

The updates are made only for our release and there are very little chance that it will work on another release. Actually all the releases are more or less the same except for the updates which contain different amount of updating files.

First you should download the game from this link:

http://forum.planetcss.com/topic/7-counter-strike-source/

Then install the game in the recommended folder.

After you finished that, you should download and install the latest update of the game so you'll be able to play online:

http://forum.planetcss.com/topic/416-css-update-55/

Orange Box is the latest release of valves source engine. At first CSS was made on the old source engine and then was ported to the new source engine called orange box. Orange Box is part of the game so you should not worry for those thinks.

Please note that this game is meant to be used only on non-steam servers so you wont be able to play on legit Steam servers. If you like the game and want to play all the available servers then you can buy it, it is chip and it cost only 15 euro and you'll get regular updates from valve.

I am not sure how many non-steam servers are out there in Philippines but you should be able to find some of them. Try google or ask here if there is any member from Philippines that can help you.

Enjoy your stay. :)

Hi :D

If you have played CS:S on Legacy (old) Source already, you can be suprised with Orange Box, cuz it's worse than Legacy (at least in my opinion) and it need better computer to play :/

example:

Legacy - 60 fps on 4x AA

OrangeBox - 30-40 fps max on 2x AA

on the same computer.

yeah I'm downloading this already. has good seeds on it btw :)

Orange Box is the latest release of valves source engine. At first CSS was made on the old source engine and then was ported to the new source engine called orange box. Orange Box is part of the game so you should not worry for those thinks.

question though, I have a modified CS:S file (above, mentioned), can I just copy-paste my "cstrike" folder which has the models and stuff? or do I need to download again the modified skins independently? Coz if logically I think the "cstrike" folder has some modified files from the previous version (the old one) which is different now to the new one (the orange box thing you have said).

And the reason why I didn't know orangebox though is that I installed the version that hasn't have that. The 2011 version I think.I really couldn't remember sorry. So uhm, should I just copy-paste everything from my modified cstrike to the standard cstrike or not?
